Sfakia Hike and Taste
Sfakia is a small, historical village of the south coast of Chania. World famous for its White Mountains, the “Samaria Gorge” and its isolated beaches like “Loutro”(only reached by boat) and “Filaki” nudist beach (internationally recognised)…..last but not least, the bungee jumping which takes place from the bridge of Aradaina, 138m high (for extreme sport lovers).
Part of the pleasure of hiking in Sfakia comes from the long journey to get there. The mountain roads are steep, narrow and the view is breathtaking. Away from tourist crowds, this remote area offers a chance for unique travel experiences.
Upon arrival local villagers offer traditional Cretan treats where you will have a brief rest and admire the stunning panoramic view.
The hike starts in a well walked and maintained pine forest filled with the scent of pine and thyme.
The footpath leads you to one of the most beautiful points where the Libyan sea unfolds infront of you, a truly rewarding experience.
Our chef will then lovingly prepare a homemade outdoor lunch made 100% with fresh seasonal and organic products picked from our garden. He will cook it in front of you, while explaining the secrets of the unique Cretan gastronomy. All this in the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the wild beauty with a glass of well-chilled Cretan rose wine.
After a short walk we return to the village to return back to Chania. On our way back you may stop for a refreshing swim, or wine tasting at a local winery.
Remember the choise is always yours.
