Our cruise will start from the little island of Lazareta which was used as an asylum for the lepruses in the 17th century. Buildings which were demolished by the Turks in 1645 can be seen and fragments of bombs can be found as it was used for military exercises in World War II . An attractive islet to enjoy a swim at its secret beaches and admire the diversity of nature.
As we continue our way through the waves , we find ourselves to Thodorou island which is not one islet but two – a big and a tiny one- hence their name in Greek which is in plural form. Their small size is not equal to their historic background which is very rich. The area had been conquered by the Venetians and the Turks in the past therefore there ruins of as a reminder of the great battles that have taken place there. Today Thodorou is declared as a National park and human presence is banned. However, visitors are allowed and the area is a refuge for many wild animals and migratory birds.
For a last swim, we stop at Macherida bay, where we take a swim in the beautiful and easily accessible sandy beach. From here we have stunning views of the White Mounains before we head back to the harbour.
You can choose between private or semi-private cruises with different type of vessels.
